What is the burping technique for a chest seal used to manage?

Lift one side of the chest seal and apply pressure to the chest during exhalation, then replace

Burping a chest seal is used to vent trapped air from the chest cavity when a chest seal has been applied to a suspected sucking chest wound. The seal typically acts as a one-way valve, but air can still accumulate under it during exhalation. By lifting a corner of the seal and applying gentle pressure on the chest during exhalation, you create a temporary escape path for that air. Once the air has vented, you reseal the edge to restore the one-way valve function on inhalation. This prevents the buildup of pressure that could lead to a tension pneumothorax and helps stabilize breathing. Not venting could allow air to continue trapping under the seal, venting air into the chest would worsen the problem, and removing the seal eliminates the protective measure entirely.
